Stockbridge victorious
Whitchurch Utd 1
Stockbridge 3.
Stockbridge recorded a 3-1 victory against a Whitchurch side which had two players sent off.
Stockbridge started well as Dean Savage and Adam Kerr both saw their headers go over the bar in the first five minutes. Savage was then forced to go off through injury and was replaced by Toby Steele who had a good game. Whitchurch then began to get into their stride and threaten the visitor's goal and on 20 minutes they took the lead when Paul Coventry scored.
Ten minutes later Whitchurch then had Pamodua Touray sent off after a two-footed tackle on Robins' Steve Smith. Stockbridge's man of the match Kerr was unlucky not to level just before the break when he broke only to see his shot strike the bar.
Stockbridge drove forward in the second half and Kerr saw another header go just over before Louis Bain equalised with a fine strike from 20 yards. Simon Poultney and Steve Witt then went close before a harassed Whitchurch defender handled in the box, and Bain drove the penalty home to give Stockbridge the lead. Whitchurch tried to rally but in the last few minutes had Bradley Hart sent off for throwing the ball at a player. The game was settled soon after when Witt scored a clever individual goal to give the Robins the three points.
Tomorrow Stockbridge travel to Liss and the North Hants Senior Cup semi-final at Tadley will now be played on Tuesday March 11.
The previous Wednesday a goal before half-time proved enough for Warminster to beat Whitchurch at Longmeadow.
They will be out to avenge that defeat tomorrow, when they travel to Wiltshire to face the same side again
A hat-trick from Declan McGregor and goals from Dominic Male and Nick Newman gave Laverstock and Ford a comfortable 5-0 win at Andover New Street on Saturday.
New Street played Fleet Town in the semi-final of the North Hants Senior Cup on Wednesday night, report next week.
