Revamp for hospital car park

A PARKING overhaul has begun at Basingstoke hospital.

Earlier this month, the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust took over responsibility for the management of car parking at the hospital from external contractor CP Plus.

Among the options being investigated is one to install a barrier system, so visitors could end up paying on exit instead of the pay-and-display set-up now in operation.

A planning application to create an extra 200 spaces, above the current 900, at the hospital is currently being considered by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

Andrew Buckley, facilities general manager at the hospital, said: "There are a number of plans for improvements to car parking."
