| Clark Recruitment's Gillian Clark and Helen Gardner |
THIS year is a very special one for Gillian Clark, owner of Clark Recruitment - it marks her 20th anniversary of working in accountancy recruitment.
Following a varied career in transport planning, sales and consultancy, Gillian joined a Basingstoke accountancy recruitment agency in 1988 and then set up her own business in 1994.
Clark Recruitment is based in Worting House, a magnificent Georgian house on the outskirts of Basingstoke, and specialises in the placement of accountancy and finance staff at all levels.
Over the past 20 years, Gillian has seen the economy go through boom and recession. She feels very strongly that keeping her business small and personal allows it to react to market changes and adapt accordingly.
At the moment, there is a lot of talk of doom and gloom, but Gillian is upbeat about the future.
She said: "Clark Recruitment provides a cost-effective recruitment service and our reputation, both with clients and applicants, is second to none.
"There will always be a demand for finance staff and, at the moment, we have a range of interesting roles available, not only in straight accountancy, but incorporating other disciplines such as administration, general management and HR."
While Gillian heads up the recruitment, all the branch administration is handled by Helen Gardner, who worked for KPMG before joining Clark Recruitment in 2005.
Working as a close team means that clients and applicants will always know who they are speaking with and there is continuity.
All applicants are interviewed personally in order to determine their career aims and aspirations, so that the right job can be found.
The recently revamped Clark Recruitment website at www.clark recruitment.co.uk has details of all the current vacancies as well as tips on CV and interview techniques.
Gillian said that the past 20 years have been amazing for her. She added she loves working in recruitment and cannot imagine doing any other job.
"Every day is different and over the years I have seen so many interesting people and met some good friends through my work," she said.
"I am looking forward to the future."
