HE is the foul-mouthed super-chef whose temper and exacting standards have made him a global star.
So staff at a Hampshire eatery could be forgiven for feeling the pressure when Michelin-starred Gordon Ramsay wandered in with his family.
But far from the acid-tongued outbursts that have earned him worldwide notoriety, the fiery Scotsman was all sweetness and light as he paused for a bite to eat at Café Fresh in Romsey.
And it seems that keeping it simple was the key to impressing the fearsome chef as he enjoyed a tuna sandwich and a cuppa.
At the end of their meal, his wife Tana complimented staff on their food and service, leaving a generous tip.
Owner Mike Hill said: “Obviously he is not your everyday customer. He was not fearsome, he was very nice.”

Marco Pierre White got it right when he was asked his opinion of this character on the Irish radio station RTE Radio One yesterday. He said he wouldn't be able to face his children if he behaved as Ramsey does towards people. A truly despicable creature with no dignity and self-respect whatsoever. Ramsey's antics have got him far too much publicity. He deserves nothing less than osbcurity from here on in...

If you've watched the F word you would get a glimpse of his true personality. He's an extremely successful businessman whose management style has been lauded and cited by many as being effective and empowering.
At least he says what he thinks without hiding behind a sudename, scrutinizer, shoong et all - myself included!
