Uptons of Bassett sells out of popular Scottish dish

A SOUTHAMPTON butcher had more reason than most to celebrate Burns Night after demand for haggis left him with empty shelves.

Simon Broadribb, 43, pictured, manager of Uptons of Bassett, was forced to make more of the Scottish delicacy after a last-minute rush by shoppers.

Simon said: “I have sold over 1,000 kilos of haggis this week, that’s twice as much as last year.

“It’s incredible. I can’t believe we ran out!”

Simon believes that the ongoing debate over Scottish independence has sparked an interest in haggis.

Burns Night is celebrated on January 25, marking the birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns

I can't believe they actually stocked the filthy rubbish in the first place.

We had three haggis from Uptons for Burns Night and they were delicious!

Nice one, I had 5 pints of Caledonian 80 @ £1.85 a pint here in Scotland. Cheers Robbie Burns!
