The majority of us have the impression that Ayia Napa is on of the biggest clubbing resorts in Europe along with the likes of Faliraki and Ibiza but in fact it has so much more to offer.
Ayia Napa is located on the south east coast of Cyprus and has a fabulous year round Mediterranean climate, making it an ideal destination for summer and winter holidays and a possibility of picking up one of the many cheap holidays to Ayia Napa could make all the difference if you are on a budget.
This area of Cyprus provides holidays makers with some of the top beaches in the Mediterranean with crystal clear, turquoise seas, safe for swimming and bathing and the most beautiful golden sandy beaches. You can also try out some of the water sport activities that are available on most of the beaches in the area. If you enjoy peace and quite when you are sunbathing, then there are many sheltered and secluded coves in the area that are waiting to be discovered along this beautiful rugged coastline.
As we all know Ayia Napa has a reputation for being a clubber paradise and rivalling Ibiza to this stake. The area attracts many couples, singles and groups of friends to try out some of the many cafes, bars and lively nightclubs that attract many top international DJs. One holiday here really isn't enough time to experience every bar, club and cocktail bar.
Putting the lively side of Ayia Napa to one side, there is so much more to discover in and around this resort. There is an attractive old quarters of this resort offering many narrow cobbled streets that have many little shops selling nick naks and souvenirs along with local produce such as lace, porcelain and leather.
An additional popular attraction in this area is Makronissos Tombs which is positioned just east of Ayia Napa. It has been the centre of attention for many archaeology groups as this is a fairly recent excavation. This area has been discovered recently and dates back from Roman times. Part of an ancient quarry has been discovered along with a small sanctuary and nineteen identical tombs. This excursion is very interesting and if you travel here it is well worth a visit.
Along with the many museums to visit in the resort, another excursion well worth taking is a visit to the Troodos Mountains. It is here you will discover the very renowned Kykkos Monastery. Positioned 1318 metres above sea level high in the Troodos Mountains this monastery is world renowned and is the largest, wealthiest and most prestigious active monastery in Cyprus. It houses the well-known and famous icon of Panayia Eleousa painted by St. Luke and is said to produce miracles. It is a very popular attraction with both tourists and members of the Orthodox Church.
Ayia Napa is well worth a visit by all types of holiday makers and people should not be put off travelling here as there is so much more on offer other than the clubs and bars it is so well known for. If you search in the right places and travel at the right time of year, you should be able to pick up one of the many cheap holidays to Ayia Napa available on the market.
