All night partying and drunken youths are usually the images that the words Ayia Napa conjure up, and in some cases this may be true. However Ayia Napa has some of the best beaches in Cyprus, excellent family facilities and one of the best water parks on the island, making cheap Ayia Napa holidays perfect for the whole family.
There is a great selection of accommodation in Ayia Napa with a choice of self catering apartments, traditional guest houses and luxurious all inclusive resorts.
The town of Ayia Napa itself has beautiful cobbled streets lined with aged buildings exuding a charm that captivates the hearts of most people who come here. A stunning marble fountain, 600 year old fig tree and 16th century Venetian Monastery sit at the very heart of this town, reminding visitors of more humble and peaceful beginnings.
All of the beaches on holidays in Ayia Napa have been awarded the EU Blue Flag for cleanliness and facilities which are just one of the reasons people have been returning to the resort for many years.
There's no denying that many people choose cheap Ayia Napa holidays for the party atmosphere, however the lively pubs and clubs are easily avoided if you prefer something a little less hectic. In 1995 Nick Power, a DJ from London's Kiss FM radio station opened up a club called Kool Club. House music had arrived on the Ayia Napa party scene and the resort never looked back. The other clubs instantly followed suit and hired top DJ's to compete with the Kool Club and the rest, as they say, is history.
Water sports are available along most of this stretch of coastline with fly fishing, windsurfing, water skiing and banana boats among the favourite daytime activities here.
Families will be impressed with the number of activities along the beach for children with mini golf, go-carting, bowling and some beautiful parks to wile away a few hours. A visit to Water World just nearby will keep the whole family amused all day with an activity pool, wave machine, flumes and slides for all ages to enjoy.
So when you're looking for your family holidays this year, don't just dismiss Ayia Napa because you think it's too loud. Try to see beyond the pulsating beat and neon lights to the stunning beaches, fascinating history and fantastic family facilities.
Cheap Ayia Napa holidays can usually be found early and late season in perhaps May and October when the weather is beginning to cool and the resort is a little bit quieter.
