THE Pulse Festival, held at Sunnyfields Farm at Totton and Eling, is back this year and will be bigger and better than ever.

The 2013 festival will be a two-day event, taking place on May 10 and 11.

It was set up in 2010 to raise money and awareness for the children’s heart unit in Southampton.

Two of the original organisers, Mark Ward and Olly Maw, have young children with congenital heart disease and both had lifesaving surgery at the unit.

All profits raised by Pulse will be donated to Families of Ocean Ward.

Dreadzone have been announced as the festival’s Saturday night headliners.

The electro dub pioneers formed in 1993 when ex-Big Audio Dynamite drummer Greg Roberts teamed up with Tim Bran, with the duo soon joined by bassist Leo Williams and keyboardist Dan Donovan, who is also formerly of Big Audio Dynamite.

A festival favourite, Dreadzone opened the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 1994 and had a number of hits, including Little Britain.

Also on the line up are Stone Them Crows, Drumscapes and The Plastics.

Once again the festival will have a children’s area with music workshops, arts and crafts, a sandpit, hula hooping and more.

Volunteers aged 18 plus are currently being recruited to be part of the Pulse team – apply on the Pulse website.
