THE Isle of Wight's annual three-day party in the sun drew to a dramatic close with a spectacular fireworks finale.
The display began the second Sting took his final bow after a rousing encore of Every Breath You Take. The Police have made a rare live appearance to headline Isle of Wight Festival 2008, along with Indie rockers Kaiser Chiefs and legendary punk band The Sex Pistols.

More than 55,000 revellers partied to the sounds of the Kooks, KT Tunstall, James, The Zutons, Scouting for Girls and many more.
Among the highlights were Newton Faulkner's incredible cover of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, unlikely festival favourites Sugababes' packing 20,000 into the new big top arena and a giant Mexican wave started by Southampton's very own Delays.

Celebrities including ex-All Saints singers Nicole and Natalie Appleton and Matt Horne, star of TV's Gavin and Stacey, were among those who descended on Seaclose Park, near Newport. Yet another superb festival passed off with barely a drop of rain and barely a hint of trouble.
