On Stage
The Pirates of Penzance
IN their centenary year, Salisbury Amateur Operatic Society presents The Broadway version of The Pirates of Penzance.
Ironically, Pirates was the first show ever staged by the society.
This much loved operetta includes favourite numbers such as I am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General, With Cat-like Tread and, of course, Poor Wandering One.
Lavishly costumed, this lively production has a treasure chest of jolly pirates, a collection of
anxious policeman and an exquisite cast of lovely ladies.
The society was formed in 1908 in the Haunch of Venison, a still existing Salisbury pub.
The Pirates of Penzance runs at Salisbury City Hall from May 7 to May 10.
