UNDERWEAR, dancing and astrology were on display in Festival Place, Basingstoke, as the shopping centre marked the run-up to Valentine's Day.

On offer were lingerie displays, tarot card readings and a personal stylist giving out advice on looking your best for your partner.

An exhibition of acrobatics by the Bongo Bolero troupe, designed to capture the emotions, was also on display.

Acoustic guitar player and singer Billy Phillips serenaded the crowd.

Festival Place resident stylist Chantelle Znideric was on hand to give out free 10-minute consultations to those looking to be lucky in love.

She said: "Both couples and people on their own have seen me for advice on how they can look their best and feel good for Valentine's Day.

"People come to me searching for ideas on the shape of clothes that show off their body and what colours work well with their skin tones.

"It's all about giving people confidence and making them feel their best for a special day."

Astrologer Diana Collis said she was giving people an insight into their love lives by letting them deal a series of tarot cards and giving them readings.

She said: "People are very intrigued as to what fate has in store for them and especially around Valentine's Day.

"When the cards are dealt, I try to tell people something helpful about their love lives and suggest tips and advice.

"I've been very impressed with the wide range of people who've come to see me.

"Some people have brought their partners along with them to find out their future, some haven't and some are single and just interested by the idea."

Mike Vaughan, from Southampton, has a girlfriend, but visited Diana to see where they were heading. He said: "I'm happy with my girlfriend, but if the tarot reader says we have no future, I may have to look somewhere else."

Sami Colenutt from La Senza displayed the latest range of lingerie. She said: "Valentine's Day is the perfect time to show someone how much you care."
