TWO SAINTS players have been bailed after being questioned in connection with a theft allegation at a Hampshire nightclub.

Bradley Wright-Phillips, 23, and Nathan Dyer, 20, were arrested this morning for questioning in connection with the alleged incident at Bar Bluu in Southsea.

They spent the day being questioned by detectives at a Portsmouth police station on suspicion of burglary.

The investigation was sparked after the footballing pair were filmed on CCTV entering an unlocked staff room with a group of pals during the early hours of February 28.

Bar staff later reported three mobile phones, £145 cash, student cards and cigarettes allegedly stolen from three handbags.

The players had visited the seafront nightspot for a VIP night watching R&B star Kano.

Southampton Football Club has already imposed the biggest punishment possible on both players for late night socialising.

Striker Wright-Phillips, who lives in Ocean Village and earns around £8,000 a week, and Dyer, 20, who takes home in the region of £5,000, were each fined their fortnightly salary.

They were also each dropped from the squad for one match because of their behaviour although Dyer, whose contract finishes at the end of the season, has not been match fit since December.

Commenting on the arrests a Southampton Football Club spokesman said: "It's a matter of police investigation and we cannot comment."
