Saints fans asked to roar on Eastleigh
 |
| Paul Doswell |
SAINTS fans are being asked to roar on Eastleigh as the latter bid for a spectacular fourth promotion in six seasons.
The Spitfires are currently third in the Blue Square South and looking good to clinch a play-off spot - with a place in the top division of non league football awaiting the winners.
The irony of Eastleigh's rise at the same time as his beloved Saints are struggling so badly is not lost on Spitfires assistant manager Paul Doswell.
He knows that Saints and Eastleigh could soon be separated by just two divisions.
But Doswell is calling on Saints fans not travelling to Cardiff this weekend to roar Eastleigh on against fellow play-off hopefuls Bishop's Stortford - and Saints season ticket holders can take advantage of cheaper admission!

Just a query to all you Saints fans who were slating Burley and desperate for him to go...do you still feel the same or now accept the blatant facts that with him in charge you may well have made the playoffs, but are now fighting relegation instead?

Do conference teams still get to enter the Johnstones Paint Trophy ? Could be a local derby next season.

We've been awful all season, and we would have been in the same position, if not worse, if he was in charge. He just happened to bail out at the right time.

It promises to be an entertaning game too 3rd v 5th. Big game - both sides going for promotion. Since Thurrock we have got some nice new floodlights as well as 160 new seats behind the goal.
For £6 it is well worth coming down to the silverlake to see Eastleigh.
Up the sptifres indeed! - be good to see some saints down at the silverlake too on saturday.

Alternatively any wandering Saints fans (or Eastleighs for that matter!!) would be made more than welcome at Bashley where we take on Hemel Hempstead in a real promotion six pointer. Both teams have won five from the last six and are the form teams in the league, beat them and we'll almost guarantee our place in the play-offs at least for Conference football next season.
It'll be a hoot down at Bash on saturday with an atmosphere that leaves the Silverlake Libary standing in terms of noise and passion generated by the fans - some quality players enjoying being in a winning team will leave smiling no-matter what the result.

I went to Bashley a couple of seasons ago, what a friendly little club it was too. Don't think I'll bother with Eastliegh, if I remember you turn off the A35 onto the B3053, is that right?

Just looked at the map and it's the B305[bold]8[/bold] off the A35, then keep going past a pub (The Rising Sun I think) and the ground is on the right. I'm deffo going, fed up with Saints for this season. Anyone know what colours Bashley play in? Don't want to embarrass meself!!

Gold and Black though the golds on the yellow side.
Might take that game in as well i've not seen them since they played Chippenham off the park. Always a nice place to go SteveP, and they are right about the crowds there. It's the only one that i can place where everyone behind the goals sings their heads off, from the oldest to the youngest - you might even get a 'When The Bash' out of them. I've even seen them sing the team off after a loss.

Doesn't matter how many you win by, you only get three points. Maybe we'll meet again in the play-offs..
Certainly the Southern League is hotting up right now.A win for Bash would severely dent Hemels hopes of gatecrashing the play-offs, possibly sealing Chippenhams participation too. Conversely, Hemel cant let this opportunity slip by to close in on the top 5. Two good sides will battle it out. A draw would be good for me! Sounds like a good game to see, but I of course will be watching Chippenham take on Mangotsfeild.

How does the southern league fit into the pyramid?
Bashley sounds like a decent place to go for a game but is the standard up to scratch for a bored Saints fan?

Bash are currently one league below Eastleigh in the Southern Premier - You will be sure of a welcome at the New Forests best kept secret.

In the last 3 years, 2 of the sides winning the southern league, walked straight through Conf south and a re now in the conference. Bath City won it last year, and without massively increasing their resources find themselves on the fringe of a playoff spot. In other words, its more than good enough, and in fact a bit of a bottleneck for 5 or so clubs in the Southern League. Bashley although only promoted last season, play a lovely game of football and are well worth watching. Of course, if you want to see a better team, then Chippenham are playing at Mangotsfeild. (did I already mention that?)

SteveP, one of the worst attempts at Trolling i've ever seen.
I can't beleive that someone who posts so regulary on the Bash message board can't find their way to the rec.

Chippenham better than us Cepen...........are you sure about that??
League Record against us this season
Played two won none and you managed the luckiest point of your season against us at your place.
Cough...FA Cup, you played us then when our injury crisis was so bad the tea lady almost got a game. Never been to a game before where there was more first teamers watching rather than playing, strange day that one.

Wrong way round surely Cepen, league above everything else - must be mustn't it!
FA Cup for show purposes only i would have thought.
Rather have Team Cheat in the play-offs than you and then anyone in the final, bring it on.
