Lowe set to return today
 |
| RETURNING: Rupert Lowe |
CONTROVERSIAL former Saints chairman Rupert Lowe is set to seal his comeback to St Mary's today.
Lowe, pictured, and Michael Wilde, another former chairman who ousted Lowe from power two years ago, were today expected to hear news that Leon Crouch, Keith Wiseman and Patrick Trant had joined chief executive Lee Hoos in resigning from the board.
The current board has hung on in the hope of bringing much-needed investment into the club but if they do step down the EGM set for Friday will be scrapped and Lowe and Wilde will get their wish to regain power at Saints.

Joy of joys, Wupert is coming back. Presumably back to bleed us dry just a little more. Lets hope the 28000 of us who stood up and sang for him to go, left an impression. Are you returning with a bit of passion for our club Wupert, or is it still just about you, your ego and lining yours, and your mates pockets?

Lol @ fans using the return of Rupert Lowe for never going to a Saints game again.
You aren't real fans, you just dislike Lowe and find it as the perfect excuse not to go anymore, probably because you can't afford it.
I don't know about anyone else, but I go to watch my team - Southampton FC, because I like football and it's a laugh with my friends... I don't go to care what is going on behind the scenes and moan about boardroom politics.
Losers.

If this sad and sorry situation can bring stability to the club, then some good will have come from it.
Somehow I think that we are still in for an uncertain future, with many more takeover stories and boardroom bust ups in the pipeline.
Oh happy days.

The comments of those posting here today is a disgrace - he is coming back, deal with it. I am sure that the team will be really happy when your demonstrations at the stadium next season provide a nice, encouraging atmosphere (!). Nothing like supporting the team eh?
Nothing you say or do in the stadium will force him out -the simple fact is he needs to be allowed to sit down and get investment in. The only way he will leave is when he has been bought out by a wealthy individual or fund.
Accept that it has happened, concentrate on the team and offer something constructive or shut up.
Kind regards, and joy of the day.

I believe all Saints Supporters knew R L was hiding in the closet waiting for the right moment and sadly it seems that the Consortium was just paper talk, obviously R L was the obstacle when others tried to buy the Club so if it's fact he's back I hope he has learnt that Football is not only about money but importantly about good business and success. Nigel Pearson is the first that should be told if he's not wanted because I'm sure he will be a success with his next team, let's hope he's given the chance with Saints, all the Players resepct him and say he has the qualities to succeed at Southampton, Glen Hoddle had his chance and blew it, big name ex Players don't neccessary make top Managers, Alex Ferguson wasn't a big name and the rest is History, last season is history what we all want is Saints to be automatic promotion next season

If he learns from his mistakes he is the best man for the job. Most of the adolescents posting on here still seem to think that there are all these billionaires out there who just want to "give" - sorry "invest" millions of pounds in the squad but they are put off by Lowe. That's so naiive it's kind of cute in its innocence.

Lowes back,so what. Wear your shirt, go to the game and support your team.
Boycotting the stadium will help nobody, as will protests during matches. Just remember the atmosphere we fans created at the last game,a season of that kind of support and this team IS good enough to be in the top 6 comfortably. We played Bristol City off the park and they could well be a premiership team in 2 weeks time. COYR.

The thing about Rupert Lowe is that he set the structure of the plc up specifically to make it difficult for some individual or group to take over the football club. He wants to run that plc as a nice little profit making business developing academy players and then selling them on and reinvesting back into the academy rather than splashing out money on big money transfers or huge salaries. Now there is some sense in that approach and it all went pear-shaped before because relegation was not part of the business plan. Unfortunately Rupert made some bad managerial appointments and gambled on the fitness of Michael Svensson - neither paid off and the rest is history. Perhaps if he had not had ultimate power and the roles of Chief Exec and Chairman had been split then things may have been different. The fact is that he's coming back so maybe we need to wait and see what his plans are before jumping to too many negative conclusions - if he keeps NP as manager rather than bringing in Clive Woodward again things may not be too bad after all??

Glad to see him back! I genuinely think he's got more to offer than the pathetic bunch that have been trying to run the club in the two years since he's been away. Fans need to realise **** happens, clubs get relegated and Chairman make mistakes but they should not take full responsibility. Players, coaches and fans have all contributed to our recent slump. I think RL will help turn us around and get us back to challenging for promotion within the next couple of years.

Take note, all those telling supporters to go to SMS next season are merely little office workers who are now being paid to drumb up the support that quite CLEARLY will not be there next season,FACT!
Stay away, you are only funding those who wanted Saints relegated this year, remember all the NEGATIVE stories before every important game this season.
WAKE UP PEOPLE,THE FAILED ONE IS MOTIVATED BY POUNDS SHILLINGS AND PENCES.

Football mad other half says to me the other day "you'll be pleased to know that there is only one more game on next Wednesday, then football is finished for the season". I says back "Yippeeeeee, no more footie on TV in the evenings making the schedulers change Emmerdale and Corrie times etc. Lovely jubbly. No more footie until the winter then?" He says, "well, except for the Euro wotsit all through June". The only plus point on this is at least the football doesn't clash with Big Brother.......Love you ALL! Even Denzil wherever he is today.

What a bunch of morons that post on this site!!
Are you skates in disguise?!
Ok, so you are all saying stay away from St. Mary's. Where's the logic in that? Majority of income to the club comes from ticket sales so if people don't buy tickets then the club will suffer financially thus will be forced to sell players and not replace them and in turn the slump will continue, relegation and administration will follow and the club will die! Who's fault will that be? It won't be the board's, the manager's or the player's it will be the bunch of small minded, moronic 'fans' who decided to stay away because they have a bee in their bonnet about the board of the company!
Grow up, get a grip and support the saints regardless!!
Mr. Lowe & Mr. Wilde, please give Nigel your full support today so he can start building for next season!!

Oh here we go again.
How many managers in the coming season?
How many managers during his 10 years - 9
How many quality players sold to fund his investment in our club - All
Decline of our club in his 10 years - Considerable, from mid table premiership team to bottom of the Championship.
Who employed the "first director of Football".....and a rugby man - Lowe
Who is a rugby fan - Lowe
When was the first game for SAINTS that Lowe watched - 1997 - Pathetic
How much did Lowe charge Danny Wallace for parking at his testimonial when parking was free to users? THOUSANDS....AND THAT IS THE TRUTH....how much did he charge Danny Wallace for the use of Stewards at Danny's testimonial......eve
n when the stewards worked for free.......THOUSANDS
.....how long after Danny's testimonial did he receive the money received and banked and interest incured by LOWE........9 months.....SCANDALOU
S
We had our highs right up until the point of his chairmanship of our club in 1997........anything after that date...has to be known as the LOWE years......., how high will SAINTS go now.......LOW LOW LOWE.......League One here we come.

Under Lowe's leadership, this club brought you the marketing slogan, "YOUR TEAM, YOUR WORLD, YOUR ADVENTURE"
But he revealed his true colours with, [bold]"THE POPULARIST OPINION IS USUALLY WRONG AND THE OPINION OF THE CROWD IS ALWAYS WRONG".[/bold]
Rupert Lowe has absolutely no respect for the supporters, he will p*ss on your back, then tell you it is raining!
I am sick of football fans unwavering loyalty being taken advantage of by rich directors and even richer footballers - neither of whom sho us any loyalty.
Loyalty should be a two-way thing, but I never saw any from Lowe. He thinks we are fools, not fit to question him.
A message for the fans wearing rose-tinted glasses, talking of loyalty, love of the club, etc... - Lowe thinks you are fools - and by pulling on your heart-stings, that is why he and people like him have their wealth and what do we have for our support? Not even respect.

oh mr media attention seeker is on the verge of coming back!! whats up your sleve next maybe making cricket coach our new manager maybe that would work or bring back clive, that get your name on the big papers!! why dont you do some good and get us back in the premiership, invest some money, cause when you was here i dont seem to remember you sticking your hands in your own pocket, oh yes apart from putting money in it!! let the manager make the signings not you!! lets have one manager this season for once, but im seriously thinking of putting a bet on at the bookies that we have 3 managers next season!! keep faith in pearson, those who slated him on here in the past, then suddenly your prasing him!! some of his loan signings raised few eyebrowse ie perry and lucketti, those who said thats it we are down they are rubbish!! you all know who you are, cause your probably the ones saying they we quality at the back without them we would be down!! pearson bring in richard wright that was a major signing i can say without him we would def be down couldnt see super davies making some of the top draw saves he did!! So lowe if your coming back prove us all wrong and make a differnce!!

Is he though? IS HE? Just because Hoos resigned the Echo assumes he's back. All spin, no proof.
Yes he probably is, but I hope we have a takeover before Friday, even just so the Echo will be embarrassed about more rubbish reporting

One question... What can a failed manager, failed fan and a failed business man bring to the Saints now, when 'the failed one' couldn't bring anything previously? And yes, I might be from the north, but I was on the pitch with every other true fan at the last game of the season!
Please someone, tell me something positive can come from this crap decision!

Admittedly, Lowe is a plank, but he's only coming back to ensure we do not suffer another ridiculous season and relegation battle towards League One again. Something the previous board, not meaning to, got us into.
Even if it's just to keep the value of his tiny percentage of shares up.
And just because he's coming back does not indicate we will not be taken over soon. He must still be up for selling his shares for the right price. Sooner rather than later please.

welp, bang goes the club that I grew up with and loved.
Put simply, we the fans allowed this to happen. If we truly didnt want Lowe back we should have stuck our hands in our pockets and put together a package to take the club away from him financially. This is where you will beat lowe, not in the stadium. but by removing his hold on the club.
however its all too late now - the Vampire is back and he will willingly suck the life out of southampton. every person who spends even ONE penny at St Mary's from now on is just helping Lowe stay there.
I will only believe that Rupert Lowe is good for this club when its at the top of the Premiership and we've won the FA cup. (european cups will do fine though)

Rupert Lowe and the traitor Michael Wilde should find another business to ruin and let this club get back to a stable and happier future without them both. Money needs to be injected into the club for the football.

Love him or loathe him you would have to say Saints have done no better without him. I think he's mad to come back. That said let's give him a chance to show he's learnt from he's mistakes.

I went to my first saints game as a sprog in 84 and will not be stopping now. I support Southampton FC no matter what, through thick and thin. I dislike the return of rupert Lowe as well but still love SFC. The club and supporters are bigger than Wilde and Lowe. Things will change - and although we cannot see it now their time will come...

Football? Bunch of overpaid poofters, tripping over blades of grass, pretending they've hurt their little selves until the bucket man whispers "get up, and you get £1m bonus".
I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than bolster their pay packets only for them to go out raping, pillaging, thieving and spending trillions on fast cars, loose women, booze and drugs.
See? You've got me started now......

If you cared about the club, then you would boycott. Continue to go and the club will die anyway.
You are blinkered to think, 'Lets support the Team'. Wake up this team is dying. Its on Death row. [bold]Act now[/bold] , boycott and then we just might get our club back.
