Council chiefs hold talks on town health
TEST Valley Borough Council’s most important committee will be discussing the health of Andover town centre on Wednesday.
The council’s Cabinet will discuss a paper written by economic development officer David Gleave and chief executive Roger Teststall called “The Rejuvenation of Andover Town Centre”, at their Beech Hurst meeting.
Campaigner Tony Hooke, pictured, who highlighted the problem of Andover’s empty shops earlier this year, says he is pleased the council is taking note and plans to address the members.
“I think it is very encouraging that they have recognised there are issues,” said Mr Hooke. “They need to recognise that we now live in a dash-and-go world and should reopen the High Street. There also needs to be more effort to entice people passing along the A303 into the town centre.
The existing brown signs are faded.”
