Party time for the spooky season
12:00am Saturday 3rd November 2012 in News
IT is that time of the year again when some young people dress up and have fun “trick or treating” and when people illuminate the night sky with colour from their firework displays.
For most it is a fun time.
However, police warn that the next few days could be ruined for some by antisocial behaviour such as “egging” or dangerous use of fireworks.
But it was fun all the way at King Arthur’s Way in Andover on Saturday where people were getting ready for the big night at a fun day which included a fancy dress competition at the King Arthur’s Hall and the Askalot Community Shop.
On the other side of town staff at the Queen Charlotte pub were getting into the spirit of things with a pumpkin weigh-in.
On Saturday evening guests were at The Quality Hotel for a charity Hallowe’en party in aid of the Mayor’s Appeal.
At Thistledown Close in Andover, Hallowe’en enthusiasts Erica and Alan Nash have even been featured in a magazine with their fundraising display.
For those in Andover who enjoy the booms and bangs associated with Guy Fawkes’ Night, there’s a display tonight next to the Sports Academy (formerly The Depot) by 12th Andover Scout Group, and tomorrow a fireworks extravaganza, organised by Rotary and Round Table, will be taking place at the Charlton Sports Centre.
