Wild day at Chantry Centre
YOUNG visitors to Andover’s Chantry Centre were given the opportunity to enjoy a walk on the wild side on Tuesday morning when a wide variety of well-behaved animals were in the busy centre.
With the half-term holidays taking place this week the footfall was heavier than ever, especially around the Chantry Court Garden where the animals were the attraction.
The largest and most exotic animal was a porcupine – more interested in devouring a large sweetcorn than being petted.
There were also the cutest and fluffiest of animals from long-haired guinea pigs and a mini-owl, to snakes – all supplied by Animal Magic.
To match the Hallowe’en theme there was also a creepy crawly section where the children could enjoy the giant spiders.
As if that wasn’t enough then there was also a workshop for kids to make a bird feeder.
Children were able to take the bird feeders home and place in the garden to feed the birds for the coming winter months.
The petting session was part of Eco Kids workshops which has been taking place every month in the Chantry Court Garden with each workshop packed with fun-filled activities designed to keep the youngsters amused whilst helping them to learn a little about the environment.
