Police continue to enforce speed restrictions on Kingsclere Road
7:00pm Sunday 9th December 2012 in News By Emily Roberts, Chief Reporter
FEWER than 50 calls were made to police in Overton during October.
PC Richard Baldwin said nine of these were suspicious sightings, five were reported criminal acts, four anti-social behaviour and one, a minor-injury-road-traffic-incident.
He added: “The Overton beat is enjoying a sustained period of low criminality. Reported crime has dropped from an average of 23 crimes per month in 2005 down to only 11 crimes per month.”
However, PC Baldwin said he has again been contacted by people worried about the speed of traffic on Kingsclere Road, and said police will continue to enforce the speed restrictions using a hand-held device or the Safety Camera Partnership van.
He also warned drivers not to exit Red Lion Lane directly on to the High Street, and said any motorists caught doing this will be given a £60 fixed penalty notice and three points on their driving licence.

Unreal how catching motorists speeding is hailed as a success. How about catching criminals instead of looking for an easy way to pull money out of people's pockets .....
Sounds to me like the Overton police are doing a good job.
Remember, if you don't speed you will not get a fined. Anybody who speeds in Kingsclere Road is reckless.
