Street robbery at Victory Roundabout

TWO revellers were targeted by a street robber who lurked near a Basingstoke underpass.

The robbery took place near the underpass at the Victory Roundabout that leads to Lower Brook Street, at around 3.50am on Saturday, January 6.

The victims, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were walking home along Churchill Way when they were approached by the robber.

He demanded they hand over their property, and grabbed the man’s iPhone before running off towards the town centre.

The robber is described as white, aged in his early 20s, about 5ft 10ins tall and of average build. He wore a black hooded top with the hood up.

Detective Constable Sol Koranteng appealed for information from people heading home from a night out at the same time.

He can be contacted at Basingstoke CID on 101.

What's with this term 'revellers' it's a ridiculous way to describe a couple of people returning home from a few drinks in town. Sensationalist!

Unlike you I do not regard 'revellers' as a sensational or even negative description. Revellers enjoy themselves and you have to ask why these people would stay out until nearly four in the morning if they were not enjoying themselves.
