Police unable to act over Overton car

QUESTIONS have been raised about a vehicle left in Overton.

The parish council newsletter reported that residents have asked about the vehicle in Poyntz Road, which never moves and has a puncture.

But they said police can not take action to have it moved while it is taxed.

Yes, a non story news in short supply that day, however on the other hand whether taxed or not, vehicles which are not roadworthy should NOT be allowed to become an eyesore and should be removed. At one time when our police were not engaged in chasing stupid targets, vehicles like this one would have received their close attention. Now our police are reduced to pushing ever increasing amounts of paper around to meet the targets set to them. Will the Parish Councillors please wake up to these facts and therefore NOT add to further paper for the police to move.

Ellis17, if the vehicle is taxed, insured, has a current MOT and is legally parked there has never been anything the police could do. What would their 'close attention' achieve? It will still be a legal vehicle however close their attention. Nowadays it takes seconds for them to check the database and if nothing comes up on the vehicle or owner the only thing they might do is check that the owner is OK. If it has not been driven for ages perhaps the owner is ill or away.

Sounds like someone has a personal grudge against the car owner
Can't be many issues in Overton. If a puncture is the biggest crime commited maybe the place to live.
I would however bring a footpump
