Hockley Viaduct: next to car-sharing lay-by
WINCHESTER civic chiefs are poised to clampdown on unofficial car-sharing at the Hockley Viaduct near Winchester.
Commuters have been parking at the lay-by on Hockley Link and sharing cars onto work.
Leaving their cars all day deprives other drivers of a space or people wanting to visit the viaduct or the riverside walk along the Itchen.
A city council report said commuters can easily use the South Winchester Park and Ride only a couple of hundred yards away.
Vicki Weston, the portfolio holder for planning and transport, is being urged to agree a four-hour waiting limit with no return for eight hours, Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm, to stop the commuter use.

Garnier Road looks like an overflowing car park, with cars on the pavements and jammed into access gates instead of a place where we can all enjoy the green space in the city.
Clamp down on this selfish behaviour; Winchester should be for us all to enjoy.
