MEMBERS of the Basingstoke Probus Club enjoyed a guided tour of the Palace of Westminster.

The retired professionals and businessmen were joined by their wives and partners on the outing to London.

The group of 40 were able to walk through the chambers of the Houses of Commons and Lords.

Alan Porter, from Bramley, who organised the trip, said: “We had a marvellous time seeing around the Mother of Parliaments, with its splendid architecture, wonderful statues and paintings.

“I am grateful to Basingstoke MP Maria Miller and her office for making the arrangements for this visit, and the experience will stay in our minds forever.”

I have learnt nothing from this article other than a group of people have visited a big building. Who are Probus, why are they important and what relevance is their visit?
