  • "Don't they enter the school in year 7? How does having gifted and talented year 7 pupils reflect anything about the school? I'll reserve my judgement until this cohort are in year 11 and get their GCSE results."

Improving school has quarter of Year 7 classed as talented and gifted

AN IMPROVING Basingstoke secondary school, which was put in special measures by Ofsted two years ago, has now found out that a quarter of its Year 7 students are classed as 'gifted and talented'.

The figures are based on The Vyne Community School’s Key Stage 2 SATS results.

Debbi Hide, co-ordinator for the gifted and talented initiative at the school, in Vyne Road, South View, said: “It is testament to the progress we have made as a school, and a credit to the parents who have stuck with us through thick and thin.”
