Extra classrooms could be built at St Bede's

A BASINGSTOKE school has applied to build two new classrooms on its playing field.
St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, in Popley Way, Basingstoke, has submitted an application to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, asking for permission to construct the double classroom building. Documents in the application say the extra space is required because “the school needs additional teaching accommodation to improve education opportunities and to enhance the curriculum provision for its pupils.”
The 205 sq metre building with a canopy would be built at the edge of the playing field, adjacent to a recently constructed classroom building. This space has been chosen because it would maintain accessibility to the main school buildings.
The application adds that the school has “substantial” playing fields and other areas that could be reinstated for additional sporting provision, if required. It states that the building will be finished in white render with a blue engineering brick plinth and slate grey aluminium doors.
