Waltham Chase schoolchildren stage mini British Bake-Off

CHILDREN at a Hampshire school have made hundreds of cakes to raise hundreds of pounds.
Pupils at St John the Baptist C.E Primary School in Waltham Chase are doing their bit for comic relief with the Great St John’s Bake Off.
It kicked off on February 25 and the idea is for each year group to bake and decorate fairy cakes with a red nose theme. A teacher will then choose the best cake from each school house and these will be judged in an assembly. After judging, the cakes go on sale for parents to buy.
Pupils have so far raised more than £500 from the sale of their cakes.
At a judging day yesterday (March 7), class teacher and organiser, Mrs Louise Rhodes, said: “This judging day was my year group and 100 kids made over 500 cakes.
“The kids had a great time. They were all very enthusiastic but also understood the purpose behind it, which was to change the lives of other children.”
The grand finale is set for Red Nose Day, March 15.
