Winchester pub aims to break world record dance
WINCHESTER residents can start their St Patrick’s Day celebrations early on Thursday (March 14).
O’Neill’s Winchester is inviting punters to help it break the world record for most people dancing an Irish jig at the same time.
All 49 pubs across the country are taking part with the dance starting at 8pm, aiming to beat the current record, 10,036 people.
Ursula Haller, Winchester O’Neill’s manager, said: “We really want the people of Winchester to join us to help smash the world record and have great fun at the same time.
“Every year we look at ways to celebrate our favourite event, St Patrick’s Day, while also trying to give something back to the local community.”
The event is also raising money for Wessex Cancer Research and Sutton Scotney hospice Naomi House.
