9:32am Friday 15th March 2013 in News By Adam Richards
Free guided walks are now being offered by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
ELDERLY residents can now explore the best of the borough with a spring in their step now that the council has teamed up with the Ramblers Association to offer free guided walks around Basingstoke and Deane.
Walks are available in Basingstoke, Whitchurch, Tadley, Oakley, and Kingsclere. All are led by a trained leader and have ‘back marker’ to ensure no one is left behind.
The scheme is a partnership between the council, Ramblers Association, and Macmillan Cancer Care.
Cabinet member for partnerships Cathy Osselton said: “Our aim is to support the work of the health service by providing activities that enable people of all ages to improve their fitness and wellbeing, both exercising and socialising at the same time.”

The article is aimed at the elderly but I cannot see anything on the website which excludes anybody else. Surely we should be encouraging all ages to walk - get in the habit and it is with you for life.
