A CHILDREN’S cancer charity is on the hunt for an army of daredevils from Hampshire to help it achieve a record- breaking skydiving mission.

CLIC Sargent needs to find more than 700 people brave enough to dive from the skies and play their part in raising £400,000 for youngsters fighting cancer at Southampton General Hospital.

The world record attempt will take place on September 14 and 15, with hundreds plunging from 10,000ft above five different airfields across the south of England.

The target is to raise more than £400,000 to ensure families facing the devastating disease have the emotional, financial and practical support of the charity’s specialist team every step of their cancer journey.

Every day ten children and young people in the UK will hear the shocking news that they have cancer. Treatment, which usually starts straight away, is delivered many miles from home and can last up to three years.

Emily Jenkins, from CLIC Sargent, said: “We have organised local skydive events for the last two years, but this is the first time that we will be running the event on such a huge scale.

“We are giving participants the chance to be part of something great - the biggest skydive team yet. This, with the added satisfaction that they are helping to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds to help children and young people with cancer, I hope will encourage everyone to get behind this world record attempt.”
