AN Andover man is taking on the Great London Swim to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Andover branch in honour of his wife, who suffers from the disease.
Malcolm Mummery is also the current branch treasurer and has been involved with the society since 1989, holding other positions including chairman and transport officer.
T h e s w i m takes participants a r ound the Royal Victoria Dock in London on 31 August.
Ahead of the s w im, Malcolm said: “I have always been a keen swimmer and in 2009 I saw the Great Swim Series on TV and thought ‘I can do that’.
“So I entered for the 2010 Great London Swim and have done it ever since and this will be my fourth swim.
“All money I raise from the swim will go straight to helping local people with multiple sclerosis.”
Malcolm hopes that his participation in the Great London Swim will not only help raise money but also awareness for the charity group that has done so much to support his wife.
There are still entry spots available for the Great Swim.
