11:00am Monday 21st October 2013 in News
THREE Whitchurch councillors have stepped down from the town’s council with immediate effect.
Cllrs Linda Thomas, Jackie Day and Paul McGarvey have all resigned from their positions and the council is seeking new faces.
Whitchurch Town Council chairman John Clark paid tribute to their work, saying: “We are grateful for the contributions of both Linda Thomas and Jackie Day on the council.
“Both councillors have worked hard for Whitchurch during their tenure, and their insight and expertise will be missed by all.
“On behalf of the whole council I would like to thank Jackie and Linda for the time, effort and commitment they have given to the Town over the years.”
“Also Paul McGarvey has shown full support for the town council in his actions during a long term as a councillor.
“Throughout his time he has shown dedication to the residents of Whitchurch and has endeavoured to reflect this in his role.
“I appreciate that this was not an easy decision for Paul to have made, but an understandable one.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul for his support and total commitment he has given to council.”
The council is now looking for new councillors to keep the town moving.
Cllr Clark explained: “We are now short on numbers.
“As such, we have set in motion the process and, in good time, we are looking forward to welcoming new councillors, who will no doubt bring with them valuable skills and expertise that will be of benefit to the people of Whitchurch.”
