A BODY, found in the River Kennet yesterday, is believed to be that of Basingstoke man Steven Stringer.
Thames Valley Police retrieved the body from the river, near Sulhamstead, West Berkhire, at around midday yesterday.
While the identity of the deceased is yet to be formally identified by the coroner’s office, it is believed to be 62-year-old Steven Stringer.
The keen fisherman went missing while fishing on the River Kennet off Wigmore Lane in Theale, at around 5pm on Friday.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “His death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious at this time.”
The family of Mr Stringer has been informed.
