BMW'S worst kept secret is out in the open - officially.
The German car maker has unveiled its new M5 Touring model (pictured), only this time the car will be available in right-hand-drive form.
With the previous E34 version having its steering wheel on the "wrong" side, UK buyers were denied the chance to drive a supercar-baiting BMW with added versatility.
The new model boasts all the good bits from its saloon relative, such as a 507bhp V10 engine, a nought-to-62mph sprint time of 4.8 seconds and BMW's clever SMG sequential manual gearbox.
Production of the M5 Touring starts in March, and the car will be priced from £67,075 on the road.
The arrival of the new M5 model also heralds an update for the 5 Series. BMW has improved the car's engine range and added some hi-tech features, such as a lane departure warning system and active cruise control.
Subtle exterior changes include LEDs for the rear, brake and indicator lights, clear glass for the headlamps and front indicators.
Inside, the car's door panels have been redesigned, with the window switches now integrated into the armrests.
And in common with recently-launched BMWs, 5 Series drivers will be able to use eight programmable "favourite" buttons on the dashboard as shortcuts to regularly-used functions, such as programming the sat-nav unit.
