POLICE have raided a cannabis factory in the New Forest.

More than 50 cannabis plants and other drugs production equipment were seized when police swooped on the premises near Fordingbridge this morning.

Eleven officers and one drugs sniffer dog took part in the raid. They uncovered sophisticated equipment used to grow cannabis at the industrial premises at Courtwood Farm in Sandleheath.

They are describing what they found as a medium-sized operation.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis and are currently in police custody. They are a 63-year-old man from Bournemouth and a 38-year-old man from Poole.

why do the police take drug addicted dogs to raids like this? do they get some kind of a kick from watching them sniff the drugs?

it would be better if they took with them "dogs trained in sniffing to locate drugs"

but that would be too hard for reporters to write one presumes.

whats a medium sized operation ? they even describe it as that wheres the description ?

Hardhampton:) The police in this town are laughable, just look at their behaviour, we are many now, that had enough of the bad attitude towards victims of crime, weird (no sense) priority of crime, serious crime is going on and the police is hunting cannabis, jusst dont understand why??

Very interesting that the first two comments criticise both the article and the reporter for mistakes, yet appear to be written by people who are barely literate themselves. Do you not have capital letters, apostrophes or full stops in Southampton any more. As for the spelling.....

You have all missed the point here especially "concerned".
These dogs go through a lot of training to do what they do. Be it sniff for drugs or just general suspect capture
proceedure.
Give the dogs a break and some respect. After all they are just doing there job.
Probablly for longer hours them our 9-5 hours.
To the dogs its a hand for which they do get highly rewarded.
Also give our police officers a break too. They are over stretched as it is.

Total waste of Police time persuing these cannabis factories.
Here we have a drug that has never directly killed anyone and even with the current scare about possibe links to mental health problems to young sustained heavy users patently a safer alternative to alcohol.

Alcohol deaths 2005,8,000.126,000 in longterm care with mental health problems due to alcohol. It is about time adults where offered a safer alternative to alcohol for our nations health and pocket legalise cananbis now.

Their spelling and things may be a bit suspect, but they dont have a job writing dodgy stories at a newspaper

This safer alternative is already widely available in every home - and called water.

However, going after cannabis factories would not be a priority in my book.
