MOVIE lovers will soon be able to enjoy higher-quality films at Basingstoke ODEON - thanks to a new digital projector.
The cinema in Basingstoke Leisure Park is one of just a handful of ODEONs across the country to get the new equipment, which allows movie theatres to show films with a higher- quality picture than ever before.
David Izzo, one of the cinema managers at ODEON, said: "We have already used the digital projector to have a look at some trailers we had and the picture is much better and a lot sharper.
"The traditional film we currently use does deteriorate over time, but with the digital projector the quality is crystal-clear whether you go to see the film on the night it comes out or near the end of the run.
"In the future we will be able to get the latest releases digitally. We do not have any booked in yet but hope to show our first one in the next few weeks."
The first film to be shown using the new projector will be Bob Marley - Anniversary Programme, which will screen at the ODEON at 8pm tonight.

While this is not a digital film, it is on a format that the cinema would be unable to use without the new projector.
