AN Andover man had to be airlifted to hospital after the Audi he was test driving was in collision with another car at East Portway in Andover on Friday afternoon.

Richard Butler, an engineer from the Rapid Fit Servicing Centre on Weyhill Road, suffered a suspected back injury in the collision with a grey Renault Clio at the corner of Caxton Close and was airlifted to Salisbury district hospital by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

A woman pedestrian, initially unaware of the accident as she was listening to her walkman, narrowly missed being involved as the Audi spun through 180 degrees before hitting a grass bank. Mr Butler was later released suffering from only minor injuries.
