HURSTBOURNE Tarrant Primary School has beaten off more than 100 competitors to win the Best Schools and Colleges Website prize at this year's Hantsweb Awards ceremony.

The school's website stood out as a clear winner' according to the judging panel who praised its simple, uncluttered appearance and good use of colour and graphics, adding that up-to-date news and examples of children's work give a real flavour of the school's exciting and stimulating environment'.

The success of www.hbtprimary.net follows two and a half years of hard work from staff, pupils and ex-pupils regularly adding to different areas of the site.

Headteacher Joyce Johnson described herself as very pleased' with the result.

She said of the website: "It provides really good links with children, parents and the local community and is a useful resource for newsletters and any current school events alongside children's work and art displays. The next step will be to allow children and teachers to access work at home."

John Hanson Community School also received a special mention from the judges for their site, www.jhanson.hants.sch.uk due to excellent work in developing their virtual learning environ- ment.
