SOUTHAMPTON'S biggest airline, Flybe, has announced three new routes from the south coast to British destinations as part of its summer 2008 schedule.
The airline's scheduled flights will now include Aberdeen, Inverness and Newquay bringing the total number of routes it flies from Southampton to 39.
One way flights to Scotland will start at £27.99 including taxes and charges, while the flight to the UK's surfing capital at Newquay in Cornwall will cost £21.99 also including taxes and charges.
Flybe says it is launching the flights as it believes there are enough business and leisure passengers to warrant the services, with bookings open from today.
Mike Rutter, Flybe's chief commercial officer, said: "The new routes from Southampton for summer next year show us continuing to offer passenger choice. They confirm our position as Europe's largest regional carrier, building Flybe into a bigger and stronger airline that offers low-cost and direct travel from the regions."
Jan Halliday, Southampton Airport's director of marketing and communications, added: "We are delighted to see Flybe's continued investment in air services to and from this region.
"The new route between Southampton and Newquay will link two areas that are both famous for watersports. It will also provide people in Cornwall with an easy route to Hampshire for business, leisure, and onward connections within the UK, the Channel Islands, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland."
Mr Rutter adds: "We remain committed to bringing exceptional service and low-cost travel to our passengers whilst promoting our positive environmental policy through our eco-labelling scheme and the ongoing deployment of our environmentally sensitive $3billion fleet across our network."
