Customs officers visiting zoo

WHEN passing through the green channel, some holidaymakers might be worried about the spirits and tobacco in their luggage.

However, customs officers are also cracking down on the amount of illegal animal souvenirs coming into the UK.

Items seized at airports and docks include coral, ivory ornaments, and shoes and handbags made from endangered reptiles.

Now customs officers are bringing their message to Marwell Zoo near Winchester.

They will be at the wildlife park to inform visitors about what they can and should not bring back from overseas trips.

Their stand will be in front of the tiger enclosure from 10am to 4pm each day from today (February 16) to Sunday, February 24.
