POLICE investigating the murder of a Hampshire man have released CCTV footage of him just two hours before he died.

Detectives searching for those responsible for William Wickham's death have also revealed they have arrested two teenagers in connection with the incident.

The 44-year-old, known locally as "Bilbo" or "Bill" was subjected to a "severe and sustained" assault before his body was discovered in a Gosport churchyard at around 10.15pm on Monday night.

Officers hope the CCTV pictures of him in a local wine shop at around 8pm that night, wearing the same clothes as when he was attacked, will jog people's memories and help them piece together Mr Wickham's movements.

Sustained assault' "This was a severe and sustained assault," said Detective Chief Inspector Scott Chilton, who also wants to hear from anyone who saw two youths wearing hooded tops running from the area between 10pm and 10.30pm.

"I believe people know who committed this crime and may be reluctant to come forward. No matter how insignificant you think your information might be, it is essential you speak to us."

Yesterday saw another development in the investigation when it was revealed a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy had been arrested on Thursday.

Last night they were still helping police with their enquiries.

A 47-year-old man and a 32-year-old man also arrested in connection with the incident have now been released on police bail until April 1.

Anyone with information should call the Operation Gomer incident room on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
