Accident closes stretch of M3

A SECTION of the M3 has been closed following a two-vehicle collision.

At about 2pm today, a green Toyota Corolla was in collision with a 44-tonne artic goods lorry on the southbound carriageway, between junctions six and seven.

Police have confirmed that the female driver is trapped inside her car, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.Firefighters from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service are said to be working to release the woman.

A section of the carriageway between junctions six and seven at Basingstoke has been closed to allow the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to land.

Traffic is being diverted onto the A30 at junction six and directed to rejoin the motorway at junction seven.In a separate incident, a Mini left the carriageway and ended up on its roof in a field.The female driver was not injured.
