THE Winchester Treasure is the subject of a talk by Sally Worrell to be held at Winchester's Discovery Centre on Wednesday (May 7).
During her talk, Sally, Iron Age and Roman Advisor with the Portable Antiquities Scheme, will explore why this cache of Iron Age gold ended up near Winchester.
You will hear about related finds which help build up a picture of who might have buried it, and how it came to be discovered over 2,000 years later.
Rob Webley, Hampshire Finds Liaison Officer, said: "Sally has been involved with this remarkable hoard since it was reported to her in 2000. I look forward to hearing her share the latest findings about this internationally important treasure."
The talk at 7pm is part of the Art and Artefacts' exhibition which runs from today (May 3) to June 1 at City Space in the same building.
Tickets can be purchased from City Space in the Discovery Centre, Jewry Street or by calling 01962 873 610. They cost £8 (£5 concessions, includes library card holders). A £1 charge will be made for credit card purchases. Telephone 01962 873 610 for further details.
