Theo death crash: Driver pleads guilty

A DRIVER has admitted five charges in connection with a road crash which claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy.

Jason Tobola, 20, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after the accident, failing to report it and having no car insurance.

He further admitted that after the crash he drove his vehicle dangerously because he had limited visibility through the damaged windscreen.

Tobola also accepted he had attempted to pervert the course of justice by arranging for repairs to be carried out to his Peugeot.

The charges followed the death of Theo Hixon-Denton who was walking home after skateboarding with friends when he was struck by Tobola's car near the recreation ground in Sholing Road, Sholing, on November 23 last year.

Theo, a pupil at Woolston School Language Tobola, who lives in Southampton, admitted five charges when he made a brief appearance at the city crown court.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report and Tobola had bail extended until July 11.

Under a court order, the Daily Echo is not permitted to reveal his address.

Theo lived with his mum, his elder sister Lydia and brother Louis in Bitterne and was formerly a pupil of Ludlow Infant and Junior School.
