IT was spatulas at the ready in Goodworth Clatford when representatives of Andover's branch of slimming programme Lighterlife took part in a Ready, Steady, Cook challenge.

The charity challenge, which took place in The Clatford Arms, raised £150 for the British Legion and provided the audience and participants with a fun evening.

Lighterlife counsellor for Andover, Amanda Brooks, was one of the chefs competing to win the challenge against Simon Blogg, a client of the slimming programme. Simon, who won the cook-off, created chicken in tomato and basil sauce, fish fillets and canapés filled with basil, tomato and prawns.

Amanda meanwhile prepared bean pate, tomato basil and parsley salad, fruit salad and pear with blue cheese salad.

"It was a fantastic event," said Amanda.

"Everyone had a really great time watching the challenge and tasting the results!"
