A man has been taken to hospital with potentially life changing injuries after a crash last night.

Police officers rushed to Waterloo Road in Freemantle at around 9.15pm on Wednesday, April 17.

The crash involved a car and a motorbike, which resulted in two men being taken to hospital last night, Hampshire Police has confirmed to the Echo.

As of Thursday morning, police have said that one man remains in hospital with serious and potentially life changing injuries - however he is in a stable condition.

Officers that attended the scene closed Waterloo Road at around 9.30pm last night and have confirmed that enquires are taking place to find out what occurred.

Police also added that anyone with information regarding the crash should get in touch with Hampshire Constabulary.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called shortly before 9.15pm on Wednesday 17 April to a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorbike on Waterloo Road in Southampton.

“Two men were taken to Southampton General Hospital. One is remaining in hospital due to serious and potentially life changing injuries, however he is in a stable condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened.

“Anyone who saw the collision should call 101 quoting 44240161514.”

A resident of Waterloo Road, who witnessed the police closing the road has said that traffic incidents on the road are far too common.

The resident added: “I saw flashing lights out of my window. When I went to look outside there was a fire engine an ambulance along with police.

“They cornered off the whole of Waterloo Road and I saw a lot of debris on the road - it definitely looked like a nasty crash.

“I have only been a resident of Waterloo Road for one year and it seems crashes to tend a happen frequently on this road.

“This is the first incident I have witnessed but I know there has been two minor crash in just the year I have lived here.”
