An Eastleigh sixth form college has unveiled its latest state-of-the-art £9.5 million Business, Law and Economics building.

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College's latest addition has new learning rooms, study areas and a health and wellbeing terrace.

The college had its newest college building unveiled by British computer scientist, Dame Wendy Hall.

Known as the Peveril building, the new facility will houses the Business, Law and Economics departments, together with the college’s humanities subjects.

The new building will provide an all-new environment for students with 27 modern classrooms, two study areas and a health and wellbeing terrace.

There will also be a trading floor for economics and business enrichment courses that will allow students to get a taste of a real working environment within the two industries.

Barton Peveril’s Principal Rob Temple said: “This is another fantastic building that further enhances the experience for students studying at Barton Peveril.

“We are extremely grateful to Dame Wendy Hall for finding time in her hectic schedule - which includes advising the United Nations on Artificial Intelligence - to officially open the building and inspire our staff and students.”

The sixth-form college offers a range of A Levels, AS Levels and vocational courses to more than 4,800 full-time students.

All students are aged between 16 and 18 and come from a wide area of Hampshire, including Eastleigh, Fareham, Romsey, Southampton and Winchester.
