HIGHWAYS chiefs look set to fit sound alerts at pedestrian crossing points on a busy Hampshire road following complaints from visually impaired users.
Currently walkers rely on green lights to indicate that it is safe to cross the road approaching Rushington Roundabout in Totton.
Hampshire county councillor David Harrison has asked for bleepers to be installed after a visually impaired pedestrian told him about the problem.
Cllr Harrison said: "I can't imagine why these crossings weren't installed with the bleeping signal facility.
"Hopefully the problem will be fixed very quickly."
