HARROW Ladies enjoyed both league and cup success at the weekend with a 5 0 league victory over Teddington Ladies on Saturday and a 1-0 win at Basingstoke in the English Hockey Trophy, writes Chris Lendon.

On Saturday victory over Teddington was assured by the nature of Harrow's first half performance which saw them 4-0 up at the break. Kerri Williamson opened the scoring after ten minutes from a short corner and soon after Katie Hockley added the second.

Teddington had no answer to Harrow's attacking flair and Williamson and Simone Burns made it 4-0 by the interval. In the second half with Sunday's cup game in mind Harrow made a number of substitutions but still kept the pressure on the Teddington goal and the visitors were only saved a large goal deficit by their keeper.

The only goal of the second half came from Williamson to complete her hat trick when deflecting home a Hockley free hit. The win keeps Harrow at the top of Middx Premier league.

On Sunday Harrow were expecting a tough game against Basingstoke, the home side being a division above. As it turned out apart from the initial ten minutes Harrow dominated the game and the 1-0 final scoreline was not a true reflection.

Slow to start and finding difficulty to adapt to the bouncy surface Harrow were on the rack early on but thanks to some great saves by Julie Fielder and stout defender by Mel Clements and Monica Hall they did not concede. Once settled Harrow hit Basingstoke with some fine counter attacks and it was clear the home defence were troubled by the midfield breaks of Williamson and Tasha Dyson and superb running off the ball by Carys Thomas and Katie Hockley.

After 20 minutes Harrow scored what was to be the all important goal when Williamson's free hit from half way found Dyson down the left and although dispossessed as she entered the circle she won the ball back and as the keeper advanced the ball was played to Hockley to slip home. Before half time Harrow were unlucky not to add to their lead when Williamson hit the post and then Dyson saw an effort saved on the line with the keeper beaten.

The second half saw Harrow completely dominate but they couldn't find the all important second goal. With on the left Burns and Monica Hall and on the right Helen Capp and Natalie Hilliard regularly attacking down the flanks chances came regularly but Williamson and Hockley were again denied by goal tremendous goal-line.
