THE magic of Christmas came to Whitchurch as Santa Claus and his sleigh paraded through the town.

Mr Claus and his elves were joined by carol singers and local schoolchildren as a horse pulled a sleigh to a Christmas party at Whitchurch Primary School, in Daniel Road. Once there, revellers enjoyed mince pies, dancing, musical shows, face painting and a balloon artist.

More than 250 people turned out for the event, which was organised by Kingfisher Housing Association together with local Community Wardens, and the procession set off from the trust’s sheltered housing at Seeviours Court, in Bell Street.

The parade was part of three yuletide events held by the trust, with fun and games also organised in Basingstoke – at Brighton Hill Community College and Ridgeway Community Centre, Buckskin.

Christian Digence, Kingfisher housing officer, said: “All the events were great, but the Whitchurch one will be remembered for many years to come. All-in-all a Christmas night to remember.”
