Downward slide of Saints' shares

Rupert Lowe Rupert Lowe

Saints’ share price has been on an alarming downward slide in recent months.

Yesterday it suffered its third fall in as many working days, dipping into single figures. The 0.5p drop in price, a fall of five percent in value, took its price down to just 9.5p per share, a new low.

It means the market cap for the company, or the total market value of all the shares, is ₤2.67m.

Some 4.5p fell off the share price in the last week alone while 26.5p over the last 12 months means it has lost a staggering 73.61 per cent of its value.

The highest share price seen at Saints since Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC came into being was 64p just under two years ago.

I am sure they wil lfind some way to attach the parent company to the club, it could be a good thing as with the PLC out of the way, someone might be interested in just buying the club - probably Lowe lol

The Echo can reveal !!! Something that has been known for about the last 24 hours on many other Saints forums. Was on the Financial Times site last night !!! So some dopey Echo hack wakes up this morning and trawls the forums to produce this "news"!

I can't see how Saints can escape a points deduction if SLH goes into administration.

SLH PLC is just Southampton FC, it owns all the assets, pays all the players, receives all the income. SLH would not operate without the football club, so I can't believe the Football League would let us off the hook on a technicality that would mean other clubs would try the same trick.

If admin means the removal of Lowe & Wilde forever from the club, then it is a good thing, but only if we get a new owner(s) who will run the club properly.

FT website states "Southampton Leisure Holdings faces debt pressures after telling lenders it would sell assets. A person with knowledge of the situation said auditors had not signed off on its accounts."

What assets? WHat are we not being told by Wupert that his accountants are unhappy about?

As usual, Lowe has refused to comment.

I suggest fans read the Times website. They have much more detail than the Echo currently have...

I was thinking the same!! Maybe Roman Abramovich is currently on the M3 on his way down....!?!?!

On a serious note, I'm past caring. The club is a joke, "managed" by a bunch of greedy muppets (Lowe, Wilde, Crouch formerly).

They died a long time ago before today and will never return to the Championship, let alone Premiership, as they will have no players and no academy!

RIP (for ever) Saints

The word is that Barclays have withdrawn the overdraft facility(currently £4.4M).

The share price has been over inflated for yonks. Reality is following relegation and the overall debt with stadium mortgatge. The shares years ago would of been seen as zero.

As a fellow CCC club fan I am sorry to hear that your once great club is in deep mire. Bad management and out of control spending has done this to you. As a Blacpool fan our club is run on a very tight bidget, half a ground and too many loan players but at times like this I would rather be in our position. Hope you do not get hit with a big point deduction, your club is NOT a LEEDS UNITED and most genunine fans will hope you survive. Good Luck and hope we see you in the CCC next season (providing we both survive).

Which ever way you analyse this its bad news for the club and its fans. It seems the withdrawal of the £4.4m overdraft will generate the demise of our club. Just think of the money that has sloshed around and wasted in our great days in the premiership? Lowe is the common denominator with Askam & Co. keeping him as Chairman regardless!
If anyone thinks anything good will come from todays news then lets see if at the beginning of next season in Div 1 with a 'no-one' team you feel the same! The worst scenerio could be that that Lowe/Wilde & friends buy the club from the administrators and end up owning the lot.
Southampton FC RIP!

Would that be the same overdrfat that Crouch offered to put 2m towards, if Wilde & Lowe matched him with 2m each to clear other debts?

This could have been avoided had the club been owned by people who actually cared for the club.

I just hope that if the club is now offered for sale as a separate entity from the parent company, someone out there has a quid more than Lowe.

I am sure the Echo would not have wanted to have to report news like this at all.

It seems strange that you are more interested in petty snipes at the local newspaper rather than the news that over 100 years of history is being brought to an end by greed and stupidity.

How easy it is to shoot the messenger.
