Leon Crouch keeps quiet about possible return to Southampton FC

FORMER chairman Leon Crouch has refused to comment on whether he would make a return to power at Saints if administration becomes a reality.

Shares in the club were suspended this morning and the parent company, Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC, is thought to be close to calling in administrators.

If that happens, the first job would be to try to rescue the business, potentially by selling assets and trying to renegotiate with creditors how much debt would be paid back for an early settlement.

They would also look to find new owners that could take the business forward.

When contacted by the Daily Echo this morning, Crouch, the second largest individual shareholder, refused to be drawn on whether he would be interested.

“I think at the present time I wouldn’t want to make any comment,” he said.

“It really needs to unravel, what’s actually happening.”

Just when I thought things couldn't get worse.

Still - footie Saturday. Can't wait.

I hope Crouch gets a consortium together and takes over control. Get rip of the muppet Lowe as a major shareholder. This can only be a good thing for Saints...suddenly we are an attractive investment without Lowe's Leisure holdings company in the way!

Derby did it in 2003! Good news before Saturday...at least no points deduction!

To think just a few weeks ago, Crouch offered to put up 2m of his own money to clear the overdraft, IF Lowe & Wilde would do the same.

Should Lowe now try to pick up the club we will all know what his motivation was for rejecting Crouch's offer.

I know, how awful it was to have a Chairman for a few short Months who tried to eradicate the inherited financial problems caused by relegation under Lowe's tenure, then overspending on expensive players in a failed attempt to gain promotion under Wilde's tenure.
Shame on you Leon to offer to put your own money into the club and putting SFC before your own pocket.

Sorry - must have blinked and missed the saviour.

You only need to read and listen to the words he says and then see the action he takes. His lack of action doesn't live up to his mouth and I think we could do with a little better than that - although maybe that's all we deserve.

Still, I live in hope that Gavin Davies is keeping an eye on things.

We do deserve better. Crouch does have the clubs interest at heart which showed when we at least had interested buyers during his time.

Fides, feel free to put your own money up for the Club or indeed risk your own health and security by becoming the Chairman of the Club instead of Leon. Because you obviously feel you can do better than him. Indeed if you do this, we can then all suffer selective memories for anything positive you do to!!

Don't knock someone who actually does more than just simply write on message boards, by offering their own money to help clear the Club's debts.

Yep shame on Crouch who support Wilde and his plans.

This has to be the only way of doing things at the moment sadly and does appear to be quite shrewd by RL. He makes crap decisions about managers and football and people but cant get away from the fact that he understands finance very very well. He does need to go though as does MW simply for the fact that the fan base would (and should be) united again, just done my sums and I think I’m right when it appears that RL shares are now worth less then £80k (is that right?) now that does seem like a good investment to me, buy his shares, get back the lost fans and start generating income and support. I know it’s not that simple but if it was I would be trying to get a re-morgage tomorrow

Which buyers might they be then? Remember that Crouch rejected SISU as well.

I think you'll find Crouch only offered to put £2M of his own money in if Lowe and Wilde did the same knowing it was never going to happen. Under those conditions I could have offered to do the same. Now that Lowe and Wilde are gone let's see if the £2M Crouch was waving around is forthcoming. I very much doubt it.
